Conceptual Analysis

The owner's favorite architect is, fortunately, one of my favorite architects, Paul Rudolph. Like Richard Meier, Paul Rudolph uses many rectilinear shapes. However, Rudolph’s designs emphasize the human moods, while Meier uses human needs. Rudolph’s designs are an example of Brutalism, and architectural style that uses very thick concrete structures, rustic and cubic facades. Instead of having floors, Rudolph designs platforms, he doesn’t waste any space, every room has its purpose, according to the person’s mood.

I want to design a place where it meets my needs, but most importantly that whenever I want to feel like to rest or to work, there could be a specific atmosphere for it. Also, that it could fit with the original design, using very clean cuts.

The two buildings are linked by a joint connection that extends the main pathway of the old house to the new addition.
